I had been feeling a little draggy last week. Despite my morning ice coffee, I could not really seem to wake up, had trouble driving, and needed naps in the afternoon. Cholada jokingly ascribed this to my age. It went on for several days.
A few days ago I finally figured it out while taking my morning vitamins. Curiously, my bottle of fiber capsules held tablet and also, two types of capsules. The smaller ones caught my eye because they looked like melatonin. Actually, they were melatonin, the herbal yet potent sleep aid.
I guess that while consolidating our medicine storage, my adorable wife went too far.
Since making this discovery I have been peppy in morning again, and things are back to normal.

Well, the good news is that you can in fact build up a tolerance to Melatonin, and it will stop being effective. My dr let me know this, as I was using Melatonin almost nightly to sleep while pregnant. I then switched to Benedryl, which is a truly wonderful sleep aide. Silly that I was getting so much sleep though, because now we have Everett and sleep is a bit out of the question.
I was about to look into Melatonin until last week when Stacy pointed out this iPhone app called "Relax Lite."
It's just this soothing voice, directing you to take a deep breath, close your eyes and then walks you through relaxing all of your muscles, area by area. I was dubious, but I have yet to stay awake until the end of the recording.
I'm afraid for the time when my mind decides to translate the speaker into Grandpa Neill's voice. Then I'm sure I'll start chuckling and it will never work again.
